It is an alphabetical tribute to the blissful nature found within each character, and in turn, in each one of us, somewhere. It was not initially intended to be a book of healing, but rather, a lighthearted offering from my intuition to yours. It was brought to my attention while attending a lecture given by Dr. Linda Pritzker, that the book may indeed serve a higher purpose. Dr. Pritzker, who is a Jungian, feminist psychologist, expressed extreme disappointment with the limited role model options she found in books for young children when she was raising her daughters. The premise of her lecture was that the main cause of the earth's imbalances are due to the lack of healthily integrated feminine archetypes. She stated that she still searches the bookstores today, but has not found what she has been looking for yet. I remembered that part of my intuition to create this book had stemmed from a similar feeling, and a desire to provide that positive role model book full of healthy feminine beings for my own daughter. It was at that point that I truly realized the tranformative, holistic, healing power that this visual, peotical, musical journey offers; to girls, boys, and the earth as a whole. The Alphabliss of Miss is a meditation to empower girls. I feel it is also important for boys to engage in this meditation. First, to help them learn to appreciate that girls have many strengths that are not always thought of as such. Second, to recognize the gifts that boys and girls share, but are usually attributed to boys. And, with an awareness that masculine and feminine energy lives in each of us, I hope that boys too will be holistically empowered by the young misses I have imagined for this book. I have been further inspired by my son to create a follow-up partner book specifically about boys. Look out for Joy For Boy! Within ourselves and in our relationships, may we strive for a better, balanced world.
